With the purpose of preserving his work for posterity, Jorge Stever conceived the idea of creating a foundation that would be responsible for the safekeeping, care and, above all, the maintenance over time of the legacy made up of his work, his concepts and his research. This dream began to materialize in 2019 and, at the beginning of 2020, the Jorge Stever Foundation was legally established.
Now a reality, the foundation has taken its first steps hand in hand with Liria Morales de Stever, the artist’s wife, who, at his side, had imagined and planned it.
The Jorge Stever Foundation promotes and protects the artist’s legacy through the preservation, conservation, dissemination and promotion of his work; it makes public knowledge of his research, materials, techniques and concepts; it also supports and works with creators, entities and cultural initiatives that maintain the artist’s research, innovative and pedagogical approach. As a fundamental part of fulfilling its mission, the foundation also aims to register, reclaim and restore the artist’s works; issue certificates of authenticity; prepare a catalogue raisonné of his production; and facilitate exhibitions.
As a way to give continuity to the pedagogical approach that characterized Jorge Stever, the Foundation will also expand its goals to the promotion and knowledge of modern and contemporary art; the promotion of research and study projects by new artists; as well as the organization of exhibitions with an emphasis on contemporary art.
The Jorge Stever Foundation is honored to be able to count on the support of a great human talent made up of family, friends, artists, professionals and institutions that have become the driving force and essential part of this great life project, which will undoubtedly be a great contribution to the community.
